Statement of Intent

My Capstone Projects research question is: Are school programs in Senegal effective in bringing awareness to domestic violence issues facing the nation and that may affect the people of Darou Alpha specifically?

I intend to answer this by researching Senegal and finding out how domestic violence affects the people of Darou Alpha. I then plan to create a domestic violence program, incorporating an informative and interactive website with a video designed to also raise awareness in a girls’ school in St. Louis, Senegal. This program will give the girls a chance to not only become aware of the problem that face their nation but also help break the cycle of abuse by empowering them with the knowledge to do so. This program may also be implemented in the village of Darou Alpha.
